Barcelona – Real Sociedad prediction, live stream & confirmed lineups

Barcelona's efforts to keep the La Liga crown continue this weekend as they welcome Real Sociedad to the Nou Camp.

Quique Setien's team dropped back to second place last weekend after Clasico's loss to Real Madrid, relinquishing the title for the time being – despite 12 games remaining.

The first of these is a tricky home game for Real Sociedad that will benefit from his recent promotion to the Copa del Rey final. La Real is currently sixth in the league and is hoping for a place in the Champions League that is not out of their reach.

Can La Real get closer or will Barcelona keep up with Madrid at the top of the league? Read on for our preview, prediction, team news and live stream information.

Barcelona: Frenkie de Jong

Although Frenkie de Jong has been an integral part of Barcelona this season, the Dutchman really has to repeat the form that convinced the Catalan club to sign Ajax.

Former Dutch coach Louis van Gaal recently said that the lack of high-level performance was due to De Jong being played out of his position in Barcelona and his natural role being filled by Sergio Busquets.

Against Real Madrid, De Jong was used as an attacking midfielder on the left, with Busquets and Arthur holding the two men, but he still managed to have a say with only three players who completed more passes than the Dutchman. But injured with Arthur, a change in the lineup that De Jong is falling behind is likely, somewhat closer to his preferred role, in which he will have more influence.

Key statistics: Frenkie de Jong has completed 63.2 passes per 90 minutes in the La Liga this season.

Real Sociedad: Adnan Januzaj

Although Martin Odegaard has focused heavily on Real Sociedad this season, Adnan Januzaj has taken the lead in recent weeks.

The former Manchester United winger took some time to find his feet after being brought into the limelight at a young age. Now he looks good as part of the Real Sociedad team.

In the search for a top 4 result, Januzaj has been key in the last two games, scoring wins against Valencia and Real Valladolid, the latter of which was the only goal. After 14 league games without scoring, the Belgian hopes to win three times in a row against the toughest opponents.

Key statistics: Adnan Januzaj has scored for Real Sociedad in his last two La Liga games. He has never scored in three consecutive league games in his career.

Squawka prediction

Barcelona were rocked by the Clasico loss last weekend, but they had a week off to prepare for their return. During the same period, Real Sociedad had to concentrate its energies on the Copa del Rey before there was a short turn between their semi-final victory and a trip to Catalonia.

Victory may inspire them, but this is a team from Barcelona who want to prove that they are still in control of the title and are preparing them for a win.

Goal prediction: Barcelona 3-2 Real Sociedad
