Former Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips believes John McGinn will stay with the club beyond this season.
The midfielder impressed in the Premier League before injuring himself and has been associated with a club change with Grealish.
Phillips claims that he has spoken to McGinn before and feels that the player wants to stay.
These comments will give Aston Villa fans a big boost. McGinn is already a fan favorite.
Phillips adds that McGinn owes Aston Villa something after missing much of this season due to injury.
"I don't see McGinn go when they go down," said Phillips Football insider.
“He's been injured practically all season and probably has the feeling that he owes Aston Villa. If they don't go down, he definitely won't go. If he is on fire, he could play on most Premier League teams, but I don't see him go.
"I had a conversation with him earlier and he's a nice kid. I got the impression he wanted to stay and try to help Villa, no matter what league they were in.
"If he got going and said he wanted to go, he might have let himself down a bit."
It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can keep the tireless central midfielder.
McGinn is one of the best players in the club and Dean Smith can't afford to lose players like him.
However, Villa has to make sure that they stay in the Premier League. The relegation could affect your chances of keeping key players.
People like McGinn are too good for the championship now and they will be tempted to stay in the Premier League.
Aston Villa has to end their season strongly if they want to beat the drop.
