Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Croatian defender Domagoj Vida von Besiktas during this summer's transfer window, according to a report by Akts.
North Londoners are looking at the prospect of adding another central defender to their squad this summer, though William Saliba will be available at Saint-Etienne after his loan.
Axel Disasi and Kristoffer Ajer have been associated with the Gunners in the past few weeks, but according to Aktiv, the club is said to be very interested in getting Vida's signature, which could be available for just £ 9m.
The 31-year-old has been on the Istanbul team for more than two years. During this time he was regularly in the center of the defense of the club and played 88 games in all competitions.
The Turkish team obviously has financial difficulties with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and this may be the reason for their desire to sell Vida, which is one of their top earners.
In the meantime, the Gunners are loaded with numerous key defensive options in the squad, and Mikel Arteta may have to consider unloading some players before the division is strengthened.
In addition to Saliba, David Luiz, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Dinos Mavropanos and Pablo Mari (on loan) are among the central defenders currently contracted for the club.
Mustafi and Sokratis wanted to go through the front door at the beginning of last year of their respective contracts, but Mari could stay with Arteta permanently, who wants a center-back with his left foot in the squad.
Vida is known for its good defensive concentration and strong pass ability and could prove a valuable rotation option for the Gunners in the next term behind the possible central defensive pairing of Saliba and Mari.
